The Psalms have long been a refuge for prayer. A place of praise and lament the writers of the Psalms have provided us with a template on how to approach God openly and honestly.

Psalm 130: 1-4 reads:

Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

God is always available to hear our prayers. God walks with us through our suffering and through Jesus Christ offers mercy. Perhaps most reassuring is that God offers forgiveness and love.
