grapesThis Sunday is the 182nd anniversary of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Cobourg. 182 years of service to God and through God the community of Cobourg and the wider world. It is a magnificent testimony of this community of faiths desire to share the Good News and to be an active participant in the betterment of the world around it.

This week our gospel lesson is from John. Jesus tells the disciples that he is the true vine and that his Father is the gardener. That the gardener breaks branches of Christ that do not bear fruit. A powerful image, that any gardener can tell you will bring new life. The act of pruning allows plants to grow stronger and to provide more fruit.

We are asked to trust the Gardener, to have faith in the Gardener so that we might bear good fruit. A wonderful message of hope.

Text: John 15: 1-6
