prayer-handsOne of the many book of prayers that I have is The Sun Dances: Prayers and Blessings from the Gaelic by Alexander Carmichael (1960). Reading and hearing prayers from other cultures is illuminating to understand how people over time have encountered God.

The prayer below is the final entry in the book and it is listed only as ‘Fragment’. The index indicates it was associated with John Stewart, merchant, Lismore.

As it was,
As it is,
As it shall be
Evermore,
O thou Triune
Of grace!
With the ebb
With the flow,
O thou Triune
Of grace!
With the ebb
With the flow.
