We know the story because we’ve read the book. From cover to cover we have read through scripture. We know how the story of Jesus begins and we know how it ends. Sometimes this can make it difficult to appreciate certain moments, because we know about the resurrection. As Christians we live as Easter people.
However, before we can get to Easter we need to pass through Good Friday. We must travel with Jesus to Jerusalem. The disciples, the friends and family of Jesus did not know what was coming. Jesus had tried to tell them, but they weren’t really listening. But Jesus knew what was waiting for him and he knew where he had to go.
“Yet, today, tomorrow, and the next day I must be on my way, because it is impossible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.”
Jesus knows where he must go and he knows what is coming.
Text: Luke 13: 31-35
