Children’s Story – January 9, 2022

Children’s Story – January 9, 2022

This week’s bible passage is Luke retelling of Jesus’ baptism. Baptism is a wonderful event in our Christian lives. Many who are baptised as children will later in life affirm their faith. Through the sacrament of baptism we affirm in action what God has already done for us.

In Living Faith (Green booklet in the pews) we read the following:

Baptism assures us that we belong to God.
In life and in death
our greatest comfort is that we belong
to our faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.

This week I want to share with you the Ministry to Children lesson plans and children’s sermon on this passage. Ministry to Children is a wonderful resource that usually puts one or two videos out per week on the lectionary passages. They either focus on a craft or a children’s story, sometimes both.

The sermon and craft from Ministry to Children this week is called Start with a Clean Slate. This echoes what we believe about baptism. Again in Living Faith we read, “The water signifies the washing away of sin, the start of new life in Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

The scripture reference for this week is Luke 3: 15-17, 21-22 which I encourage parents to read with their children before diving into the activities.
