We continue our series on Job. Over the previous two weeks we have witnessed Job’s suffering and participated in Job’s reaction to God’s absence. On Sunday God answers Job our of the whirlwind. It is a powerful and provocative piece of scripture. It also fails to answer any of Job’s questions.
Instead God raises a whole host of new questions. Indeed, God asks Job a wide variety of questions in response. God’s appearance and questions raise the issue of our relationship to God. What is humanities role in the wider cosmos? How does our suffering relate in the greater scheme of things?
Text: Job 38
Questions for Sunday
- What do you think God should have said to Job and why?
- Are you satisfied with God’s answer?
