Children’s Story – January 23, 2022

Have you ever watched a sports game on TV? Before and after the game the players will give interviews talking about their teams approach. In interviews before the game the player might reflect on what they need to do to win. After the game, depending on whether they won or lost, the player will talk about what they did right or wrong.

Sometimes before a game a player will make a delcaration and say, “We are going to win!” They declare what they believe will happen.

In our passage from Luke this morning Jeus does something similar to this. He reads a passage of scripture and then declares, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Parents read the scripture passage from Luke with your kids. Some topics of discussion might be:

  • Where does Jesus get his authority from?
  • What other things might God be declaring in our lives?

Scripture: Luke 4: 14-21

Ministry to Children has a craft exercise available to work on with your kids. The focus is on recognizing who Jesus is and proclaiming him so we can share the good news.
